Top-ticket Democratic incumbents hold double-digit leads over their Republican challengers among likely Colorado voters, a new poll from the 麻豆影院's nonpartisan American Politics Research Lab shows.

The annual Colorado Political Climate Survey also found strong support among likely voters for ballot measures to fund free meals for public school students and to permit grocery stores to sell wine if they're already licensed to sell beer.

A majority of Coloradans agree elections are conducted fairly and accurately, and a majority agree Joe Biden legitimately won election as president, though the pollsters found deep partisan divides on the questions. Across partisan lines, however, big majorities expressed concern about the national and state economies and the cost of living in Colorado.

Ugly Freedoms Talk with Elizabeth Anker /polisci/2020/10/16/ugly-freedoms-talk-elizabeth-anker Ugly Freedoms Talk with Elizabeth Anker Anonymous (not verified) Fri, 10/16/2020 - 15:48 Categories: Events News Tags: Events News

鈥淯gly Freedoms鈥

with Elisabeth Anker (George Washington University)

How is the language of freedom used to justify war, racism, climate destruction, and economic inequality in American politics?

Freedom is one of the highest ideals in American politics, but it has also justified horrific violence and destruction throughout US history.  This talk looks at the "ugly" side of freedom -- times when torture, racism, murder, and gender violence have unfolded in freedom's name. Yet it will also celebrate undervalued practices of freedom that have successfully challenged freedom's ugliness, even though they may otherwise look like weakness, surrender, or deviance.
