Research Interests: American politics.
Nancy Billica (Ph.D., Harvard University, 1997) focuses on environmental policy and American politics. She has been a lecturer at the University of Colorado since 1998. Some of her hands-on knowledge of politics came through work as a research assistant under Senator Alan Cranston on the U.S. Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee (from 1984-1987), and as a congressional intern for Rep. Fortney (Pete) Stark while an undergraduate at the University of California Berkeley. In addition to teaching, she works as a researcher, writer and consultant with a number of public policy and nonprofit organizations related to environmental, human rights, counterterrorism and health policy issues. She is currently focused on Zero Waste initiatives. She enjoys balancing her research and policy interests with work in support of students who are trying to figure out how they can make a positive impact in the world.
