Be Involved Fair

Be Involved Fair

Ìý ÌýWednesday, Aug. 28
Ìý Ìý2-6 p.m.
ÌýFarrand Field

Did you know … students who are involved on campus, even if it’s just with one thing, are more likely to continue through to graduation? Your academic studies may be your passion, but for many students it’s the co-curricular involvements that keep them energized and connected to the Â鶹ӰԺ community.

Whether you join a student organization, get connected with a campus department, work an on-campus job, volunteer in your community for an issue you are passionate about or find a new hobby you would like to explore – getting involved gives you the opportunity to grow and the opportunities are endless.

Prepare for the fair

Explore your options online

  • Check out , the online directory of recognized student organizations on campus and their upcoming events. Search organizations by keyword or category.
  • Visit the Volunteer Resource Center for a list of volunteer opportunities in the Â鶹ӰԺ community and help getting connected with them.
  • Browse these campus resources to find offices or departments that you might want to get involved with.
  • Take the to find clubs that might interest you.

Ask questions

Before the fair, think about what opportunities might be best for you. Here are a few things to ask yourself:

  • Am I looking for on- or off-campus opportunities?
  • Do I want to be involved in Â鶹ӰԺ or other local areas?
  • What skills or experiences do I hope to gain?
  • What do I want to contribute?
  • How much time can I commit?

When you are at the fair, talk with organization representatives to get an idea if an opportunity is a good fit for you. Here are some examples of what you can ask:

  • What does your organization do?
  • What does it look like being a part of your organization?
  • How can I sign up to get involved?
  • What kind of time commitment is there to be involved with your organization?
  • When do you meet?
  • Where are you located?
  • What resources does your organization have for students?
  • What do volunteers do at your organization?
