After a lengthy performing career that included work on Broadway and Off-Broadway, in regional theatres, national tours, television and film, Robert Westenberg is now concentrating on teaching, directing and playwriting.听听
He is perhaps best remembered for his roles in the original Broadway casts of听鈥淚nto the Woods鈥澨齛s the Wolf and Prince, for which he received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk Award,听鈥淪ecret Garden鈥澨齛s Neville Craven and听鈥淪unday听in the Park with George鈥 where he replaced Mandy Patinkin in the title role.听He also performed the role of Javert in the Broadway production of听鈥淟es Miserables.鈥 Other Broadway credits include leading roles in听鈥1776,鈥 鈥淐ompany,鈥 鈥淎be Lincoln in Illinois,鈥澨淎 Christmas Carol鈥澨齛nd听鈥淶orba鈥澨齠or which he received a Theatre World Award.听听
While known for his work in musical theatre, Westenberg has also appeared in numerous plays and classical works in theatres around the country.听His national tour credits include听鈥淶orba,鈥澨淔unny Girl鈥澨齛nd听鈥淭he Full Monty.鈥澨
Westenberg鈥檚 film and television credits are听鈥淭he Ice Storm,鈥澨淏efore and After,鈥澨淭he Stars Fell on Henrietta,鈥澨淢r. and Mrs. Bridge,鈥澨淪wift Justice,鈥澨淐entral Park West鈥澨齛nd听鈥淟aw and Order: SVU.鈥澨鼿e has sung at Carnegie Hall in听鈥淭he Gay Divorcee鈥澨齛nd can be heard on several original cast albums.听听
Westenberg is a graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and completed his degree studies at the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver.听
After serving as chair of the theatre department at Drury University and coordinator of the musical theatre program at Missouri State University for several years, Westenberge now resides in Longmont, Colorado. He is married to Kim Crosby and is the proud father of their three children.听
