Upholding the impact and legacy of composer George Crumb
Associate Professor of Music Theory Steven Bruns and the late, renowned composer George Crumb shared a close, long-lasting professional relationship and a deep friendship that began in 1992. As Bruns nears retirement this spring, he reflects on his role as Crumb鈥檚 archivist and biographer.

• Man the lifeboats鈥攈ere comes 鈥淭itanic鈥� (the musical): Directed by Broadway veteran and CU 麻豆影院 College of Music guest faculty Bob Westenberg, 鈥淭itanic, the Musical鈥� comes to Macky Auditorium in March.听鈥�...the creators tried to humanize what happened, telling of passengers in first, second and third class. We鈥檒l see how those characters perform under that terrible duress and how the storyline is musicalized. This is what makes for the classical structure of a musical,鈥� says Westenberg. • We鈥檙e thrilled that lyric soprano Cynthia Lawrence (MMus 鈥�87)鈥攚ho studied with the late Barbara Doscher鈥攚ill be inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame on June 29, along with the Central City Opera, the late conductor/artistic director John Moriarty and Keith Miller, a former CU 麻豆影院 football player turned opera singer who sang in the College of Music鈥檚 opera chorus. Congratulations to all!
• Congrats to Madison Falkenstine鈥擬iss Colorado Volunteer 2024鈥攚ho鈥檚 pursuing a master鈥檚 in vocal pedagogy at our College of Music! Her platform is Fine Arts for All, bringing quality music education to every school in Colorado.
