Nicole Peters鈥攁 senior who鈥檚 pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in flute performance as well as a certificate in music entrepreneurship with a minor in business鈥攕hares what constitutes effective practice. 鈥淚t's important for musicians to be open to numerous tactics to find the best one for them and to be open to a new strategy even if you feel confident in your own system,鈥� she says. 鈥淎 change of pace always helps with engagement while practicing.鈥� That said, a few rules for achieving effective practice remain constant 鈥� What are they?

Open Forum for the College of Music: for the first in a series of forums this spring. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend, ask questions and engage in dialogue on the activities of the Division of Academic Affairs.
