First-year students attend Kickoff + Spirit Night at Folsom Field

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a long time coming, but with a few continuing pandemic precautions to help keep us all safe, we're finally returning to an in-person experience at CU 麻豆影院 this fall. I鈥檓 thrilled to welcome you back to a more traditional in-person experience at the College of Music, and what better way to celebrate than coming together for the Warner Imig Music Building dedication ceremony and open house on Sept. 17. Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. on the southeast side of our building and Join us as we celebrate our completed expansion and tour the new space while enjoying performances, rehearsals, presentations and refreshments alongside other members of our community. I鈥檒l see you there!鈥澨�

• Congratulations! Rebecca Maloy of the College of Music and Roy Parker of Biochemistry and the BioFrontiers Institute have been selected to receive 2021-2022 Distinguished Research Lectureships. Professor of Musicology and Erismann Faculty Fellow, Maloy also serves as director of the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. One of the world鈥檚 leading scholars of chant from the Iberian Peninsula, Maloy鈥檚 current work examines the Old Hispanic chant of the Iberian Peninsula from historical, liturgical, theological and musicological perspectives.听
• Our American Music Research Center is breaking ground with its innovative Soundscapes of the People project, a comprehensive research effort in collaboration with local community stakeholders to document, preserve and engage with diverse musical and cultural influences in and around Pueblo, Colorado. The research team aims to address the lack of representation and inclusion in the history of Southern Colorado culture.
• Peak to Peak Webinar Concert Series: the Program in Jewish Studies鈥攊n collaboration with the College of Music鈥攊s offering three webinar concerts + discussions this fall. Coming up on Sept. 20: Contemporary Klezmer Music and Yiddish Song. Learn more and register.
