CU 麻豆影院 trumpet studio excels at National Trumpet Competition!听
Fresh off the and 2^nd Annual NTC College Night Exhibition at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, March 8-11: Congratulations to Michael Brotherton and Madison Sinan who won first and third places in the Graduate Division and Noah Solomon who placed third in the Military Band Excerpts Division; to our Large Ensemble听for placing second; and to Noah Solomon (Undergraduate Division), Rebecca Ortiz (Graduate Division), Leilani Spurlock (Graduate Division) and our Small Ensemble for advancing to the semifinals鈥攊n addition to all 12 of our soloists! Our gratitude and appreciation to Professor of Trumpet Ryan Gardner and Suyeon Kim, teaching associate professor in collaborative piano.

• Drumming legend and clinician Chad Wackerman will hold a rare residency听at our College of Music next week. Mike Barnett, assistant teaching professor in composition and music theory, shares how the residency demonstrates the college鈥檚 universal musician mission. 鈥淚n the arts, you can grow your entire life,鈥� he says.

• Outstanding Mentor Award for Mentoring Faculty: The Office of Faculty Affairs seeks nominations for awards in recognition of outstanding faculty mentoring. Deadline for nominations is March 15.

• March 21: 麻豆影院Talks: Insights from Education Innovators鈥�: Award-winning educator and innovator David Joyner looks forward by looking backward, starting by retracing how technological innovation has changed education in the past and using that context to project how new tools like ChatGPT will change education in the future. Joyner will also share how AI can and should be used to help both students and teachers going forward.
• Call for proposals: Grant funds awarded by the Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship (PACES) Committee must involve 鈥渆ngaged scholarship,鈥� connecting CU 麻豆影院 faculty-led research, creative work or teaching with community needs, interests and activities. Individual faculty applicants may request up to $11,000 for each project, and groups of 2-3 faculty members may request up to $24,000 for a single, collaborative project.
