The College of Music鈥檚 Director of Bands Donald McKinney conducts the CU 麻豆影院 Wind Symphony Chamber Players at the annual clinic/conference of the Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA) last week.听In a terrific showing, dozens of College of Music faculty, students and alumni were strongly represented as award winners, board members and presenting clinicians!

• Tomorrow, Feb. 4, our saxophone studio will host guest artist听. He鈥檒l present both a master class (2:30-3:30 p.m.) and a recital (3:30-4:25 p.m.) in S102. The jazz and concert saxophonist performs with the U.S. Army Band听鈥淧ershing鈥檚 Own鈥澨齛nd co-founded the Global Premiere Consortium Commissioning Project, an online platform for instigating the composition, dissemination and performance of new music worldwide. • On Feb. 7, our American Music Research Center will present 鈥淭he Ways of White Folks: Fletcher Henderson鈥檚 Sonic Theorization of Whiteness in 鈥榃hiteman Stomp.鈥欌�澨�Learn more and join us in person or virtually!听
• Through Feb. 27: The Black History Month Racial Equity #BeTheChange Challenge includes daily engagement with music, articles, podcasts and films to learn about current and historical issues of racial inequity and ways to be part of the solution.听
• Honor a staff member excelling in community-engaged work: The Anne K. Heinz Staff Award for Excellence in Outreach + Engagement recognizes a staff or non-tenure track faculty member who has shown an exemplary commitment to outreach and engagement (supporting community-engaged research, teaching, or creative work).听
