Materials from renowned 麻豆影院-based blues musician Otis Taylor are now part of CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 American Music Research Center archival collections. 鈥淗ousing his work at the AMRC is the best way to give him the visibility, the recognition and the honor that he deserves, as somebody who has made major contributions to American music and culture,鈥� says Austin Okigbo, interim director of the AMRC which supports the research, performance and preservation of all music of the Americas with a particular emphasis on music diversity from the United States. • April 24, 25: All Buffs and community members are invited to attend the 31st annual Campus Sustainability Summit which will present many opportunities to share, learn about and celebrate the wide array of accomplishments, challenges and new ideas related to sustainability in the CU 麻豆影院 community. • April 29, via Zoom: Your voice can be a path to power, argues Chelsea Hackett, a university research associate, and she鈥檒l explain how in a public presentation titled 鈥淪PEAK: Vocal Empowerment for Students and Educators.鈥� Learn more + register (required).
• On May 1, the 鈥攁 German comedic adventure film (1921) directed by Ernst Lubitsch鈥攚ith live musical accompaniment by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, a five-piece chamber ensemble that revives the repertoire of silent film orchestras. The orchestra is headed by Rodney Sauer who donated the Sid Grauman Theatre Scores Collection to our American Music Research Center鈥攖he collection includes thousands of musical scores intended to accompany silent films.
• Call for nominations: The Distinguished Research Lectureship is among the highest honors bestowed by the faculty upon a CU 麻豆影院 colleague. Learn more + nominate by May 20.
