Recent alumnus expands flute repertoire:听听has already made his mark on flute repertoire by transcribing all three of Edvard Grieg鈥檚 violin sonatas. And in a review of his debut recording with collaborative pianist and alumna Nath谩lia Kato鈥斺�溾�浓赌斕齪raises Chesnic as a 鈥渟ensitive and virtuoso performer.鈥� Says Chesnic, 鈥淲hat I鈥檓 most excited about is for flutists and violinists alike to get to know these sonatas on a deep level.鈥澨�Discover Chesnic鈥檚 approach, his inspiration 鈥� and how College of Music faculty supported his ambitious, successful endeavor.

• On April 4, Professor of Musicology Robert Shay will present a talk鈥斺�淔orgotten Dido: The Curious Textual Legacy of Purcell鈥檚 鈥楧ido and Aeneas鈥欌�浓赌攊n which he offers new insights into Henry Purcell鈥檚 famous opera based on his recent research. Shay鈥檚 critical edition of 鈥淒ido and Aeneas鈥� will be published by B盲renreiter later this year.
• Congratulations to the for winning Grand Prize and First Prize in the national Coltman Chamber Music Competition! The Ivalas Quartet is the Graduate String Quartet in Residence at our College of Music, studying with the Tak谩cs Quartet.听
• Congratulations to Ben Nelson for receiving a Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award! Nelson serves on our Music Advisory Board, and he and his wife Pattie are fantastic supporters of the College of Music. He writes, 鈥淭hey told me I was the first Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award recipient to have such strong cross-connection with the College of Music. Without pausing, I responded, 鈥業 am the engineer that I am because I am a musician!鈥欌��
