CU-麻豆影院鈥檚 Quartet-in-Residence, the Tak谩cs Quartet, has won the prestigious 2011 Royal Philharmonic Award in the Best Chamber Music & Song category.

The Keyboard Department had a highly successful 3rd annual Keyboard Day on March 12, 2011. The audience included local teachers and students, and we spent the day exploring various aspects of keyboard playing and getting to know one another.

Lucas Munce (MM candidate) received the 2011 DownBeat Magazine Award for Graduate College Outstanding Performances by a Jazz Soloist. More details about DownBeat鈥檚 34th Annual Student Music Awards will be announced in the magazine鈥檚 upcoming June issue. The CU Jazz Studies program has won 15 Student DownBeat Awards since 2002 in numerous categories.

Oxford University Press has released a new book by CU-麻豆影院 Associate Professor of Music Theory Keith Waters. On April 25, University of Colorado President Bruce Benson today announced Creating Futures, a $1.5 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign, the most ambitious in university history, which will benefit people, programs and places across CU鈥檚 four campuses.

n April 8, 2011, the College of Music hosted the first CU Invitational Orchestra Festival. The festival involved the participation of three orchestras from 麻豆影院 High School, and orchestras from Legacy High School, Lakewood High School and Cherry Creek High School.
