Myra Lee (Barnes) Jackson, known to every student and faculty member who scheduled a recital or concert at the College of Music and widely known to the 麻豆影院 community for her work with CU Presents, died at her home Oct. 29, 2014. She was 73.
All apologies to Forrest Gump, but you really never know what you鈥檙e going to get at the 麻豆影院鈥檚 Ekstrand music competition finals. Might be Bach, Bernstein or Basie, show tunes or a string quartet, a jazz solo or guitar duo.
The University of Colorado College of Music won鈥檛 quite take you around the world in 80 minutes, but in one concert of that length, they can take you into musical cultures from the other side of the globe.
Funding from the endowment will help support the three full productions a year, an opera scenes program for students and CU NOW, a program in which students work directly with new composers. The endowment will also enable the program to provide the most professional experiences possible for students.
The Cavani Quartet's Oct. 15-20 residency at CU-麻豆影院 includes two performances at Grusin Music Hall and master classes, lectures and workshops on campus and in the community.
Saxophonist and composer Greg Osby will be artist-in-residence at the CU-麻豆影院 College of Music Thompson Jazz Studies Program Oct. 29-31. The residency will feature a public performance with students at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 in Grusin Music Hall.
