Several students of Professor of Piano Andrew Cooperstock were recently named prize winners in the “New York Concerti Sinfonietta 2011 International Piano Concerto Competition.” Grand Prize winner Antonio Pastor-Otero (DMA), now professor at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève (Switzerland), performed Haydn’s “Concerto in D Major” at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall on Dec. 17. He was joined by his wife, second prize winner Pia Bose (DMA), who performed Mozart. Finalist prize winner Peter Mathys, freshman piano major, performed Rachmaninoff ’s “Concerto No. 2” on Dec. 16 at Yamaha Piano Salon. All three students received a great review from Michael Sherwin in.

Other finalists, Gunna Kim (DMA) and Adam Haas (DMA) will perform Tchaikovsky and Brahms in the spring, and first prize winner Owen Zhou (DMA) will perform the Scriabin Concerto in March.
