Partner: Colorado Mills
Group Members: Sara Starr and Sasha Mehan
Colorado Mills produces a suite of sunflower products, including high-oleic sunflower oil and animal feed and grain. The company, owned by four families from agricultural backgrounds, takes pride in offering healthy products that are grown and produced in southeastern Colorado. Colorado Mills also values sustainability and wants to be a part of the movement. To do so, they have made it a priority to connect more deeply with customers that share their sustainability values. Colorado Mills partnered with the Masters of the Environment (MENV) program to receive guidance on how to understand their existing sustainability, identify areas they can improve, and how to communicate this messaging to customers. MENV will facilitate through conducting an evaluation of sustainability practices in their facilities and operations. The assessment covers: analysis of current sustainability practices, energy efficiency, utility cost reductions, and enhanced sustainability-centered product marketing. The MENV team will provide analysis of current practices, a gap assessment, and recommendations for the company to become more sustainable and reduce electricity costs. In addition, the team will provide guidance for the company to effectively communicate their company’s positive impact to new customers in order to grow market share.
