To celebrate our McNeill graduates and community, we are have interviewed graduating students on their experiences at CU 麻豆影院. The second graduate we are introducingfor this Senior Spotlight is Janeth Villalobos!


How would you describe yourself and what you do?

Janeth: I am an open, fun, high-energy person who is always happy to make a new connection. I love spending time with friends, and enjoy my time at school, work, and other involvements. I am a First-Gen,听McNeill, and PreCollegiate scholar, and have been involved in these programs throughout my time at CU. I work as a SASC Learning Mentor and as coordinator for the Emerging Health Professionals group at SASC. I am also a Peer Mentor Leader for the PreCollege Bridge Program, and have worked closely with CISC in hosting events during the school year.

What is your major(s)/minor(s)?

Janeth: My major is Integrative Physiology, minor in Business, and certificate in Public Health.

What are your next steps after college?

Janeth: I plan to work for a year as I prepare for the next application process to graduate schools.

Will you go to graduate school or another institution of schooling?

Janeth: I hope to attend a graduate education at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. I am seeking to attend the dental program and am considering the MHA Pathway to Dentistry Program.

Are you already working, or have you received a job offer?

Janeth: Yes, I have a job as a dental assistant at the Denver/Thornton Youth Dentistry clinics. I have worked here throughout my time in school (during breaks), and have made great connections with the healthcare world.

How were you engaged on campus during undergrad?

Janeth: As a pre-health student, I have joined clubs on campus including the Pre-Dental Society and Global Brigades. Here I have had the opportunity to volunteer and make connections with health professionals and schools in the health field. I have been involved in the Undergraduate Pre-Health program at CU Anschutz medical campus, where I gained insight into health disparities and the system of healthcare overall. In addition to coordinating events through PreCollege Bridge, I attended several events during the year that would provide food and resources to students regarding several topics.

How did the McNeill Academic Program help you reach your academic and career goals?

Janeth: The McNeill Academic Program has been greatly beneficial in helping me set and meet my academic and career goals. Through attending workshops and coordinating pre-health events, I have had the opportunity to explore the paths we as students can take. Resources like The Hub and The M were very influential in my development of attending help hours and connecting with peers about schoolwork. I have been able to grow my involvement and attain academic achievement through the opportunities provided by McNeill.
