Students participating in concentric circles

As CU students approach the end of the semester, incoming freshmen get closer to the beginning of a new start in their academics and in their social life. McNeill hosted an event for Admitted Students Day on Saturday April 7, 2017, for incoming freshmen and their parents in the Dennis Small Cultural Center at the UMC on campus. This informational meeting gave students, as well as parents, the opportunity to ask questions about the McNeill program and allowed students to meet current McNeill CU students.

My name is Alexis Dominguez, and I work as a Student Staff member of the 听McNeill Academic Program Office. Both myself, and other student staff were on hand to help the event get started by greeting students and parents as they arrived, and introducing them to others.

Incoming freshmen talked about where they were from, what high school they attended, and what they enjoyed doing. Parents also took part in the conversation, by mentioning where they were from and the name of their student. The student staff introduced themselves and described their roles within McNeill, as well as activities they were currently involved in outside of the SASC community. Visitors listened to McNeill students describe how they take part in many different organizations across campus, 听while actively participating in the McNeill Academic Program. We facilitated an activity called 鈥淐oncentric Circles鈥 with the prospective freshmen, while their parents took part in the informational session. This gave them the opportunity to meet other prospective students, 听and to ask us questions about our perspectives on campus life.

McNeill wants to welcome the class of 2021 to a new beginning in their lives and a fresh start in their careers.
