The Department is excited to recognize LING MA student Allen Hsiao for winning a Center for Humanities and Arts (CHA) summer fellowship to complete work on his MA thesis, 鈥淪emantics and Syntax in Polysemous Denominal Verbs: A Corpus-based Study鈥�. The study looks at denominal verbs that span one or more of the classic 鈥楥lark and Clark鈥� semantic classes (e.g., agent, result, locatum) by investigating effects of both preemption and conventionality.聽
