María Guadalupe (Lupe)Blanco Méndez

María Guadalupe (Lupe) Blanco Méndez is a founding member of Radio Nahndia’a en Mazatlán Villa de Flores Magon, in the Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca. She is originally from the Zapotec (Buin Saa’s) community of Zimatlán de Álvarez.

She has won numerous awards and recognition for her role as a radio host, journalist, and producer, with a particular focus on programming for women and children.

She is an active member of the Mexico chapter of the World Association of Community Radios (AMARC) where she has been the representative for the network of women in radio (2011-2014) and a member of the National Council (2019-2021). In 2019, she was a fellow with the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. More recently she led Radio Nahndia’a’s Chjinie Ien (Makers of Words) project that trains community radio broadcasters. She is currently the administrating director of Radio Nahndia’a.
