Alisha Clark - Assistant Professor

Research Goals

My research focuses on the physical properties of silicate liquids at high pressures and temperatures, and the implications of these properties for the dynamic evolution of planetary interiors. I am particularly interested in the role of melts at structural, rheological, and/or chemical boundaries in the Earth, such as the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary, the transition zone (410-660 km), and the core-mantle boundary. My research on melt properties aims to bring new insight into global-scale processes including plate tectonics, dehydration melting, as well as planetary accretion and destruction, and geochemical evolution under dynamic (impact) conditions.
