In the spring and summer of 2015, CU News Corps students worked聽on a documentary film titled 鈥淭aking the Lede.鈥�
The 45-minute film tells聽the stories of Colorado high school journalists who have covered difficult stories during times of crisis; who have done ground-breaking investigative work that brought the Pentagon鈥檚 wheels to a grinding halt; and who have drawn attention to critical human rights issues.
News Corps enlisted the help of Dr. Marguerite Moritz, the producer of the award-winning documentary 鈥�,鈥� to help tell the story of student press freedom over the 25 years since the Colorado General Assembly passed the Student Freedom of Expression Law in 1990.
The film made聽its debut at the Rocky Mountain Journalism Camp, July 8, 2015, at CU 麻豆影院. It has also been shown on Rocky Mountain PBS Channel 12 in Denver and at numerous sites across the country, including San Francisco, Palo Alto, Fort Collins, Minneapolis, and Bloomington and Franklin, Indiana.
鈥淭aking the Lede鈥� earned a Best of Competition Award at the Broadcast Education Association鈥檚 2016 Festival of Media Arts.
