Lecturer/Instructor Employment
Lecturers and instructors are typically hired on a semester-to-semester basis as temporary faculty.
Pay range is $5,000 to $10,400 as applicable, per course.
The Institute of Cognitive Science occasionally hires Lecturers or Instructors to teach a Cognitive Science courses offered by the Institute.
Lecturer is the title given to individuals hired to teach on a course-by-course basis. Lecturers are qualified to teach the particular course or courses for which they have been hired. They may have graduate degrees and/or advanced experience in their profession or field of expertise. Lecturers are employees-at-will.
Instructors usually have their master’s degree or its equivalent and should be otherwise well-qualified to teach at the undergraduate (primarily lower division) level. Instructors are not tenure-eligible and their service as Instructor does not count toward the award of tenure. Instructors are usually employees at will.
