The International Affairs Program and the are pleased to announce the establishment of the International Affairs Student Advisory Board (SAB). The IAFS SAB will formally launch in the 2023 Fall Semester to ensure the IAFS Advisory Board’s programming most effectively supports current IAFS students. We are seeking a SAB Program Chair and a student committee coordinator for the following committees:Â
- Committee: the IAFS Mentorship Program connects junior and senior IAFS students with IAFS alumni and offers a curriculum to work through together. The IAFS Mentorship Program is designed to help IAFS students prepare for professional life after graduation.Â
- Alumni Programs Committee: the IAFS Advisory Board organizes a number of events for alumni each year where students are welcome to participate. The is a platform for IAFS students, alumni, friends of the Program, and members of the community to come together for presentations by scholars on a variety of subjects. The IAFS Program & Advisory Board also host an event at the Conference on World Affairs each year and a Student-Alumni Social on campus each semester, respectively.Â
- Committee: the Global Grants Endowment funds scholarships for the most talented IAFS students’ study abroad experiences. To date, the Endowment has funded over 100 scholarships and the IAFS Advisory Board has raised over $700,000 for the Endowment.
The SAB Program Chair will work directly with the International Affairs Advisory Board and manage the student committee coordinators. The student committee coordinators will attend a monthly meeting with the corresponding Advisory Board committee and engage with the IAFS student body to collect student input on the Advisory Board’s current initiatives to serve the student body.
