Explore and redefine the leading edges of social and environmental solutions at the Student Forum for Climate Justice! This event is two days of learning and action featuring climate justice-centered workshops led by local change agents and re-broadcasts of climate justice focused selections from the national Bioneers plenaries, which sets a global context for the local event. Through tapping the inspiration and wisdom of globally renowned climate justice leaders and learning innovative strategies from campus and community change agents, students will cultivate a collective voice for practical and visionary solutions and create pathways for a regenerative future.Ìý
Come to any part of the forum that fits your schedule and interests. See talks from national climate leaders on Friday and Saturday mornings, choose from six sessions on Friday afternoon that frame climate justice issues, experience traditional native foods at Friday's dinner, or participate in a student action workshop Saturday afternoon.ÌýÌý
Eco-Social Justice Leadership Program

The Eco-Social Justice Leadership program empowers students with the knowledge and skills to advance both sustainability and social justice efforts. The semester involves participation in a full day training and a series of events and networking opportunities.

Sustainability leaders and technicians of FLOWS will lead a conversation about engaging underrepresented voices in climate work. They will discuss their efforts to make real change on an individual and community level with diverse students and low-income residents.Ìý They will also expand on some of the with KGNU exploring a different paradigm within sustainability work.
Refreshments and Spanish language interpretation will be provided.

Grand Prize Competition: April 22
The CU Office of the President has provided funding to encourage the development of sustainability innovations by CU students for their campuses and communities in spring 2020.Ìý The President’s Sustainable Solutions Challenge (PSSC) will be a two-part event culminating in the President’s Sustainable Solution grand prize of $2,000, awarded at the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, April 22. The PSSC will award a prize of $1,000 to one team from each campus as the first round of the challenge in early April.Ìý This is under wraps until the Official Info is released next week.

Teach-ins are part of the soul of Earth Day: In 1970, teach-ins, lectures and discussions on subjects of public interest helped to educate and mobilize citizens of every background. They demanded that the government protect land, air, water and lives. This became the first Earth Day.ÌýÌýIn April 2020,Ìýteach-ins around the world will spark change at the global scale — and educate a new generation of leaders.ÌýÌýThe Environmental Center invites CU Â鶹ӰԺ faculty, staff, and students to present at Earth Day 2020, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Presentations will take place April 22-23 and can be in the form of posters, panels, workshops and short presentations. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, March 13, 2020.Ìý

Nominate outstanding individuals and departments who demonstrate a sincere commitment to transforming the CU Â鶹ӰԺ campus into a living laboratory for sustainability through innovation that directly reduces the university's ecological footprint, enhances social equity and cohesion in the campus community or integrates sustainability into the culture of our local communities.Ìý Awardees will be recognized on April 23 at the annual Campus Sustainability Awards Luncheon, held as part of Earth Day 2020 this year.ÌýÌý

LEED Exam Prep Workshop
Friday, March 13, 1-5pm
People can become LEED certified green building professionals, just as buildings can be LEED certified, and this course will prepare you for the entry-level LEED Green Associate certification exam. LEED certification is an important credential for many sustainability careers and the GA credential is the first step.Ìý This workshop will cover an in-depth overview of LEED, including all topics covered on the exam and a focus on heavily weighted topics, how to register, prepare for, and pass the LEED GA exam, and will include mock exams and a study guide. (LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).Ìý Instructor: Lorne Mlotek ofÌýÌý COST - $150 for CU Students; $200 for non-CU Affiliates. Some enrollment discounts are available for CU students. Ìý Limited to 50 participants.Ìý
