The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures is delighted to announce that Dr. Adrienne Merritt will be joining our faculty as an assistant professor of German Studies in August. Dr. Merritt is an interdisciplinary scholar with research and teaching concentrations in medieval studies and Black and Afro-German cultural production. She holds a PhD in German from UC Berkeley, an MA in German from the University of Minnesota, and a BA in German and History from the University of Minnesota. Her current research focuses on white consumption of Black German-created works and on Black joy in German Hip hop. This fall, Dr. Merritt will be teaching 鈥淕erman Fairy Tales鈥 in the Honors Program as well as the course 鈥淢etropolis and Modernity.鈥澨
