As the mountains of Colorado beckoned with their majestic beauty, two brave alumni members, Hermano Rolando Rodriguez and Hermano LeVauer Andrews, ventured into unknown territory, driven by a shared vision of diversity and unity. With unwavering commitment, they laid the groundwork for two chapters (Colorado School of Mines and University of Denver) of Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc., setting the stage for a revolution of brotherhood and cultural enrichment. Within the hallowed walls of their fraternity, bonds were forged that transcended time and space, leaving an indelible mark on the Colorado community they called home. United in purpose and fueled by a genuine desire to make a difference, the Hermanos of Lambda Alpha Upsilon blazed a trail of excellence, weaving a vibrant tapestry of strength, resilience and solidarity. Their legacy lives on in the hearts of those who walk in their footsteps, a testament to the power of brotherhood and the transformative impact of a shared vision. Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, a symbol of what can be achieved when hearts beat as one.
Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity was founded on Dec. 10, 1985 at the University at Buffalo when 16 men formed a support group to provide a social and cultural outlet for students of Latin American descent. The university鈥檚 Greek system lacked an organization dedicated to the needs of the Latino community. To meet those needs, the group chose to pursue recognition as the first Latino-oriented Greek-letter organization on campus. The founding fathers represented various ethnic backgrounds, demonstrating the diversity of the Latin American community. The unity realized by these men became the foundation upon which the fraternity was established.
As Lambda Alpha Upsilon continues to develop, it has maintained its principles and purpose, for these are what distinguish the brotherhood and guide its members through their personal and professional endeavors. All these things can be combined to express one common belief. No matter what obstacles or difficulties stand in our way; 鈥溌enceremos Porque Nacimos Para Triunfar!鈥 (We will overcome because we were born to triumph!) We are all given the opportunity to live a significant life and as such, it is our responsibility to leave our mark on society.
