Dear graduate students:
As the end of fall semester approaches, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the perseverance that you鈥檝e shown in making it through what has been a uniquely challenging and unprecedented semester.聽聽
As graduate students who wear multiple hats, you rose to meet the many challenges that presented themselves this semester. You have managed to maintain your academic focus amid disruptions and adjustments, while also excelling as teachers and researchers. I was particularly pleased to hear Provost Moore acknowledge your strength and resilience聽in his message last week, and I join him in honoring your hard work.
We know that you have had to make tough choices to balance your intellectual pursuits, work, and family throughout this time; we appreciate the flexibility and tenacity you鈥檝e shown in doing so. Throughout this semester, your engagement and feedback have been vital for our understanding of the kind of resources and support that are most beneficial to you. While we may not be together physically, maintaining community is key to our continued success. We encourage you to continue to find ways to engage with your mentors and fellow graduate students.聽
As we finish the fall semester, the Graduate School team and I would like you to know that we are here to support you in any way possible. We encourage you to聽contact us聽if you have questions or need assistance. In the meantime, please accept my best wishes for a successful close to the semester, and a peaceful and healthy winter break.
Sincerely,
E. Scott Adler
