Susanna Saurini is an Italian Instructor in the French and Italian Department. She grew up in Vicalvi, a small town situated on a hill with a medieval castle at the top, nestled in the enchanting Comino Valley, about 100 km. southeast of Rome. She received a Teaching Diploma from the Istituto Magistrale, and a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature (Laurea in Lingue e Letterature Straniere) from the Universit脿 degli Studi dell鈥橝quila. She studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain, and completed an Independent Study at SUNY Binghamton, where she did research to write her thesis: 鈥淎 Farewell to Arms: From History to Fiction鈥.
She moved to the United States in 1992 and started teaching at the 麻豆影院 in 1993 as a Lecturer. She taught all levels of language classes, and third year Advanced Conversation and Literature classes. She also worked on translations for various companies.
Susanna took a break from the university life after her children were born and returned to CU in 2010. Her courses include: first year traditional, fast-track, and hybrid language classes; and second year intermediate reading, grammar and composition classes.
She is an ASSETT Faculty Fellow, the administrator of the Italian Program Facebook page, and she helps promote the Italian language and culture by helping with and organizing many events for the department and community.
