Athens Street building removal construction impacts
Below is a compilation of the safety measures being taken during the demolition of multiple former housing buildings along Athens Street that have reached the end of their useful life.
General construction impact mitigation measures
Work hours to take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Exterior demolition work will be complete by mid-November 2023.
No lane closures or detours are anticipated.
Work plan includes necessary traffic control, including coordination of traffic control plan and haul plan
Site fence with wind screen to provide site security and help control visible dust and debris will be installed prior to beginning any work
All dumpsters will be staged within the fenced boundaries of each site
Asbestos mitigation
Hazardous materials abatement (asbestos) occurred inside the buildings prior to demolition.
Monitoring demolition contractors for compliance with CDPHE permits to ensure regulatory compliance and that proper best management practices are being utilized.
Air quality and dust
Following regulations set forth by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Construction sites and demo materials will be kept wet to prevent visible dust and airborne debris
Noise
Noise activities will be restricted, per 麻豆影院 Municipal Code, Chapter 9, to the following times
Any type of construction (large equipment, etc.) 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Light Construction (powered hand tools, etc.) 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Stormwater
Contractors will use vehicle tracking pads to keep mud on the site and off the roads; contractor is responsible for removing and disposing of any sediment that may be tracked onto roadways each day.
EH&S will oversee the project and inspect as necessary to ensure the project remains in compliance with the campus stormwater discharge permit issued by CDPHE
The jobsite shall be inspected for overall cleanliness. Trash and debris around the jobsite shall be picked up promptly and disposed of. Dumpsters shall be inspected regularly to ensure functionality and cleanliness.
Stormwater inlets near the disturbed areas will be identified and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure they are protected throughout the duration of the project. Inspection and maintenance will be performed to ensure functionality.
Porta-Potties shall be secured down and ideally placed out of sight. They should be away from stormwater inlets to ensure no illicit discharges.
