At Fiske, Carla wears many hats, including community relations, managing the membership program, public programming, marketing strategies, digital communication strategy, website development, and more. She's always trying to find new ways to engage members and attract new visitors by collaborating with a talented team of colleagues to share Fiske’s enriching educational programs, musical and theatrical events, and fulldome shows.
Prior to joining Fiske, Carla was a STEM Informal Science Educator at where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of , a volunteer membership network of informal science educators at over 600 institutions in the U.S. She brought together a community of volunteers, provided opportunities for professional development, and managed multiple NASA websites. Carla also designed, developed, and delivered planetarium presentations and STEM curriculums for after school programs, science clubs, libraries, camps, and Boy and Girl Scouts troops. In addition to her work at JPL, Carla was a Telescope Demonstrator at and a 60-inch and 100-inch Telescope Operator at the historic .
A passion for public outreach and a love of sharing the skies with kids of all ages keeps her involved in the Front Range amateur astronomical community with the , , and . On a national level, she served as the Advertising Representative for the ’s Reflector magazine and continues her relationship with JPL as a. In 2019, she was honored to be selected for the (ACEAP).
A lifelong learner, Carla has a , emphasis Astronomy from Montana State University and a Master of Education in Organizational Development from .
