Happy Aphelion Earthlings!
We鈥檙e farther away from the Sun today than any other time of the year. Why? Our orbit isn鈥檛 circular, it鈥檚 more like an oval.
Why is it hot? It鈥檚 summer in the Northern Hemisphere because the Earth鈥檚 axis is tilted toward the Sun & the days are long, while it鈥檚 winter in the Southern Hemisphere where the South Pole is tilted away.
Gotta love livin' on a spinning, orbiting spheroid!
