EPIC spacecraftDid you know you can see near-live images of the entire sunlit side of the Earth and watch time-lapse videos as the Earth spins? You can, thanks to ! EPIC is the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera that is onboard (DSCOVR). The spacecraft orbits Earth approximately one million miles up at the L1 Lagrange听point (a place in space with a neutral gravity point between the Earth and Sun). At this point the spacecraft has the Sun at its back and can take a picture of Earth every two hours. This allows us to track the weather (including space weather), ozone levels, aerosols, UV radiation, and more. There鈥檚 also a , like the total solar eclipse in 2017 and the lunar transit in 2016 from an incredibly unique perspective. Take a look and explore the Earth like you've never seen it before!
