JieqiuÌýShao (Jay)Ìýis a pursuing a PhDÌýin Electrical Engineering under my supervision, after completingÌýhis MSÌýin Mechanical EngineeringÌýat the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2018.
Jay's MSÌýthesis, which now continues as hisÌýPhDÌýproject, focuses on theÌýControl of Optical Atomic Lattices for Quantum Inertial Sensing. Along the way, Jay was the primary catalyst forÌýQ-PRONTO, which is an extremely successfulÌýbyproduct of a class project he worked on with Prof.ÌýÌýand has, since then,Ìýflourished beyond expectations.Ìý
Jay graduated in May 2024 and received the Best Thesis Award from the ECEE Department in recognition of the high-risk, high-reward journey he embarked on over the course of his PhD. Jay will continue his work on developingÌýoptimal control laws for quantum sensing applications in his new role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at .
