Chris Owen

Director of Drinking Water and Reuse Innovations, Hazen and Sawyer

Chris is the Director of Water and Reuse Innovations for Hazen and Sawyer.  She has 29 years of experience in water quality, operations, research, treatment and regulatory compliance.  Her utility roles included regulatory compliance, research, and treatment. Her research interested included membranes, biofiltration, corrosion, contaminants of emerging concern, and algal toxins.  She is active in regulatory issues at the state and federal levels and served on the USEPA Science Advisory Board for Drinking Water and the USEPA National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology.  In 2017, she was named 鈥淲ater Quality of the Year鈥 by AWWA and AMTA.

She is the Chair for the AWWA Water Science and Research Division Trustees, president of the Board of Directors for the American Membrane Technology Association and active in the Water Research and the WateReuse Foundations.  She currently is a Trustee and technical advisor for WateReuse Florida.
