Environmental Engineering Student Awarded 2019 Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Excellence in STEM Education

Environmental engineering PhD candidate Sabina Schill was recently chosen for the 2019 Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Excellence in STEM Education! Schill was recognized for her work at the . 

鈥淭his award provides me a wonderful opportunity to really hone in on the pilot study for my dissertation work, and has already helped me form connections with other people doing engineering and STEM education research at CU 麻豆影院,鈥 Schill said.

Schill presented on the topic 鈥淎m I an Engineer? Exploring Identity Development of K12 STEM Outreach Mentors.鈥 Her research aims to correlate the relationship between university STEM outreach mentors with their science/engineering identity.

Environmental engineering student Jake Lewis also presented on his research entitled 鈥淓thical and Societal Impact Implementation in High School STEM Education.鈥 His qualitative research seeks to understand to what degree ethical and societal impacts are being taught as part of STEM education in Colorado high schools.

The mission of the Center for STEM Learning is to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education at the 麻豆影院, and to serve as a state, national and international resource for such efforts.
