A Graduate Research Assistantship is available in the Water Resources Graduate Program () at Oregon StateÌýUniversity starting in Summer 2019. The successful applicant will pursue a PhD andÌýwill join the Community Snow Observations () project, a NASA-fundedÌýproject conducted by the University of Alaska, University of Washington, and Oregon State University. TheÌýresearch assistant (RA) will be responsible for carrying out high-resolution, energy balance modeling of snowÌýprocesses in mountain environments, with emphasis on innovative assimilation techniques for modelÌýimprovement. Preferred qualifications include a background in water resources engineering, physical hydrology,Ìýor cryospheric science; skills in Fortran, Matlab or Python; and familiarity with processing of large geospatialÌýdatasets. An ability to operate (skis, snowshoes, or splitboard) independently in remote winter environments isÌýnecessary. An ability to operate well in a collaborative environment is essential.
