The American Water Works Association鈥檚 Government Affairs Office in Washington, DC is accepting applications for their DC Internship position for the remainder of 2018, with possibility to continue through spring 2019. Congress, the EPA, and other executive branch agencies are the focus of most of AWWA鈥檚 governmental affairs efforts. Staff closely coordinate their many activities through the Water Utility Council (WUC) to develop action programs to initiate, evaluate, respond and comment within the framework of Association policy on legislative, regulatory, and other matters which directly affect water utilities.

The office鈥檚 principle need for this internship is to evaluate the topic of utility commitments to customers including but not limited to consumers bills of rights. Students with a background in issues of economics, public policy, and other topics related to this field should clearly state this information, and should describe their interest and thoughts on this topic. The selected candidate will be responsible for helping to design and implementing a project through data collection, analysis, and writing a final report suitable for publication. Topics related to other water policy matters relevant to water utilities will also be considered.
