Hiring now for COSTEM Mentors
Join our College of Engineering ITL Program’s new Colorado Science Technology Engineering and Math (COSTEM) mentorship program to work with 6thÌýand 7thÌýgrade students in Â鶹ӰԺ and Longmont ─ providing weekly math and science tutoring, helping students explore hands-on engineering activities, and serving as a mentor for 1-2 small groups.Ìý
COSTEM mentors will also assist with a few K12 visits to the CU campus throughout the year and must complete mandatory training. Most COSTEM mentors will work ~ 5-10 hours weekly, with one 10 hr/wk position available for the lead mentor. In addition to mentoring a small group of students, the lead mentor will also coordinate schedules, organize supplies for both the COSTEM and TeachEngineering after-school engineering clubs and be the primary liaison between CU and the host schools/programs.Ìý
All COSTEM mentor positions require weekly availability from 3-5pm onÌýMondays and/or one other weekday (TBD) every week of the semester. Some evening meetings may be required.ÌýÌýA background check is required, and applicants must beÌýEarn-Learn eligibleÌý(enrolled in College of Engineering and Applied Science and meet theÌýGPA requirement—2.3 undergraduate, 2.7 graduate.)ÌýWork study-eligible students are encouraged to apply! - Must be an engineering upper-division ($12/hr) or graduate student ($15/hr)
- Must be reliable and show up every week
- Work 5-10 hours per week
- After-school activities between 2:30 – 5pm on various week days
