A new, one-of-a-kind online professional graduate program launching in 2021 at CU Â鶹ӰԺ taps into a key strength and economic growth area in Colorado: human desire to be in the great outdoors. The Masters of Science in Outdoor Recreation Economy (MORE) was approved June 18, 2020 by the CU Board of Regents and is pending approval by the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

Congratulations to graduate student, Tara Ippolito, for being awarded a scholarship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) which has been one of the largest funders of women’s graduate education since 1888

ENVS Graduate Rebecca Page and Lisa Dilling recently published a paper in Climatic Change. They found that climate-related extreme events like drought can create a window for policy change for water managers. But the way organizations respond really depends on worldview and local political pressures. There's no singular way of responding to extreme events. Read on here:

Moderating the event were Max Boykoff, Environmental Studies Associate Professor and the CO-LSEN project lead, and Matt Druckenmiller, a research scientist at the university’s Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences and the CO-LSEN project co-lead.

Dr. Colleen Scanlan Lyons (ENVS Research Professor) was nominated and selected to receive the 2020 individual achievement award recognizing her dedication to advancing partnerships for tropical forest conservation efforts that benefit indigenous peoples and local communities. This award announces the campus' appreciation of her commitment to reducing the burden that the CU campus and the Â鶹ӰԺ community place on the environment.

Emily Nocito was elected by the United Government of Graduate Students (UGGS) assembly to be the Vice President-Internal for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Joanna Lambert was recently featured in Popular Science in an article on the multiple wildlife sightings that have been occurring since the COVID-19 crisis.

Tara Ippolito is a recipient of the Graduate Student Fellowship from NSF! Her PI, Matt Burgess, had this to say about her most recent achievement, "a very exciting and well-deserved honor for Tara!".
