Josalyn Monahan
MA Student

Josalyn Monahan (she/they) is an MA in Literature student at the Â鶹ӰԺ. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2021 with a BFA in Creative Writing concentrating in poetry, as well as an English major concentrating in creative nonfiction.

She was president of the UNO Writing Club, Lead Creative Nonfiction Genre Editor forÌý13th Floor Magazine, a Senior Writing Consultant at the UNO Writing Center, and a two-time recipient of the John J. McKenna Undergraduate Scholarship for Creative Nonfiction. She has been published inÌýRoadrunner Review, as well as by Poets’ Choice, High Shelf Press, and more.Ìý

Josalyn’s interests include Gothic, environmental, and feminist literature, and contemporary creative nonfiction and poetry, which she hopes to explore further at CU. Her goal is to become an English educator at a community college or with a non-profit.

Outside of school, Josalyn works full-time as a Content Editor for Hurrdat, a multi-media digital marketing agency, and spends her free time gaming with her husband, hiking, showing people pictures of her dog, baking, and half-learning songs on her ukulele. She also writes creative nonfiction and poetry, often incorporating imagery from her home state, Nebraska.
