CU 麻豆影院 undergraduate students work in the mission operations center for IXPE.

Haichao Wu of the Dan Schwartz Group is the winner of the College of Engineering and Applied Science鈥檚 2021 Outstanding Dissertation Award for 鈥淣anoparticle Tracking to Probe Transport in Porous Media.鈥� This award is a recognition of the quality and excellence of Wu鈥檚 research as well as his presentation of the dissertation.

Students from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering presented their research as part of the competitive NC State University Future Leaders in Chemical Engineering symposium this past October. Three students from the department were recognized as awardees.

Juan Carlos Tiznado (PhDCivEngr鈥�20) is the lead author on a new paper in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering that helps engineers better understand and predict the 鈥渓iquefaction鈥� hazard during earthquakes and more reliably mitigate it.

Hayden Fowler, a graduate student in Gallogly Professor Timothy White鈥檚 Responsive and Programmable Materials Group, is the first author on a research paper published in Advanced Materials concerning the temperature-independent electrical actuation of liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), which are soft, stimuli-responsive materials with potential applications in soft robotics, artificial muscles and more.

Nicole Day, a third-year graduate student in the Shields Lab, is the 2021-2022 recipient of the Teets Family Endowed Doctoral Fellowship. The fellowship provides $15,000 a year for two years to support deserving students working in the nanotechnology field.

The 鈥淒BIA Buff Builders鈥� have earned first place in the 2021 National Design-Build Student Competition . The team, comprised of students Liam Atkinson, Spencer Chuck, Evan Dicks, Hayley Hansen and Kai Reimers, presented their winning proposal during the national Design-Build Conference & Expo, which was held in Denver on Nov...

Filipe Henrique is this year鈥檚 recipient of the Dwight E. and Jessie D. Ryland Graduate Fellowship from the College of Engineering and Applied Science. This fellowship provides $10,000 over two years to a deserving first-year PhD student working in alternative energy or improved energy utilization and efficiency.

Dafna Margalit, a senior at CU 麻豆影院, is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering while also creating a name for herself in the music industry.

The Committee for Equity in Mechanical Engineering wants to expand its outreach in the 2021-22 academic year and needs help to do it. The only qualification to join the team of graduate students is a willingness to be open.
