2025-2026 GoldShirt Student Assistant Opening

The GoldShirt Student Assistant (GSSA) position is an essential part of providing holistic and inclusive support to students participating in Broadening Opportunities through Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) scholarship programs. The purpose of the GSSA position is to provide support to the Engineering GoldShirt Program, including supporting GoldShirt students, events, and projects. GoldShirt Student Assistants assist with event and program execution during the academic year, with the opportunity to work in the summer if both supervisor and employee agree. GSSAs will be hired and supervised by GoldShirt Program Professional staff. This position is approximately 8-20 hours per week.Ìý

Areas of ResponsibilityÌý

The supervisor will work with each GSSA to decide which of the following responsibilities will be assigned to each GSSA in accordance with the needs of the GoldShirt program and the GSSA’s availability and interest.Ìý

Creating a welcoming environment and supporting the students BOLD serves.Ìý
  • Attend and support BOLD/GoldShirt programsÌý
  • Communicate with team members as well as other student employeesÌý
  • Be open to learning and sharing personal perspective and experienceÌý
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetingsÌý
  • Serve as an ambassador of The BOLD Center and role model BOLD’s mission, vision, and valuesÌý
Administrative dutiesÌý
  • Make phone calls to GoldShirt studentsÌý
  • Assist with the annual scholarship application review processÌý
  • Communicate with students about events, requirements, and opportunitiesÌý
  • Data entry for tracking student scholarship requirement processÌý
  • Canvas administration and gradingÌý
  • Reserve event spacesÌý
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and 1:1 meetings with supervisorÌý
  • Check Microsoft teams and e-mail correspondence daily as well as respond to students and staff accordinglyÌý
  • Effectively communicate, collaborate, and support BOLD professional staff and fellow student staffÌý
  • Conduct themselves responsibly and in accordance with expectations of the position and university policyÌý
  • Update spreadsheets and analyzing dataÌý
  • Catalog and store photos, documents, and other dataÌý
  • Other duties as assignedÌý
Event/program planning and coordinationÌý
  • Plan & implement programming/events to engage the broader BOLD and GoldShirt community in community building and other activitiesÌý
  • Collaborate with professional staff to collect and track information for basic assessment of programs/eventsÌý
  • Order, purchase, inventory, and distribute materials/food for programming/eventsÌý
  • Market programs/events by creating and posting flyers, providing event details and a digital flyer to the BOLD newsletter, and creating Instagram and Canvas postsÌý
MentorshipÌý
  • Meet with assigned mentees on a regular basis, as determined by GoldShirt staffÌý
  • Cultivate interpersonal relationships built on mutual respect and trust with menteesÌý
  • Work with mentees to support them in defining and achieving their academic, professional, and personal goalsÌý
  • Provide mentees with personalized guidance, advice, feedback, and support that aligns with their values, interests, goals, and needsÌý
  • Follow up with and refer mentees experiencing challenges to resourcesÌý
  • Attend 1-4 student society meetings or events with your menteesÌý
  • Submit timely and accurate communications to supervisors regarding students’ concerns (academic, health, personal, etc.) when appropriateÌý

EligibilityÌý

  • Must be an undergraduate student within CEAS at CU Â鶹ӰԺ and enrolled in at least six credit hoursÌý
  • Must maintain good academic standing and good conduct standingÌý
  • Must be a current GoldShirt scholar; preference given to 2nd-5th year studentsÌý
  • Must have a computer with a working microphone and stable internet accessÌý
  • This position is eligible for renewal subject to qualifications, performance, and program needsÌý
  • Active involvement with BOLD and campus resources, programs, and student societiesÌýÌýÌý

Pay & CompensationÌý

This is a Student Hourly I position with a pay rate of $17.00 and no additional benefits other than pro-rated sick leave.ÌýÌý
