Dear engineering community,
It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to you aboutÌýthe tragedyÌýat the King Soopers grocery store in South Â鶹ӰԺ yesterday.ÌýI ask that you keep the victims, their familiesÌýand all those who knew them in your thoughts and in your hearts.
The road to recovery from this tragic event will be a long one, but our community is kind, caring and resilient.ÌýPlease check in with your colleagues and classmates and ask them directly about how they are doing with this news.ÌýNow more than ever is the time to show compassion, empathy and support for everyone on our campus and extended community.
If you would like help coping with Monday’s shooting – or with any topic on your mind – consider contactingÌýthese resources on campus:
- Counseling and Psychiatric ServicesÌý(for students)
- Office of Victim AssistanceÌý(for faculty, staff and students)
- Faculty & Staff Assistance ProgramÌý(for faculty and staff)
I urge you to pull together andÌýcare for one anotherÌýas we await more information from local authorities. As the chancellor noted in his message, classes will take placeÌýtoday, but we encourage faculty and supervisors to be flexible if students, faculty and staff need to miss classes or work to cope with the impacts of this horrifying ordeal.
Sincerely,
Keith Molenaar
Interim Dean
