We have reached our March 17 milestone to provide initial feedback on the vision and becoming statements. Thank you to our engineering community for the collaborative and thoughtful feedback that was received thus far. Your responses are shaping our shared vision and strategic direction for the college.

Thank you also for sharing your unit-specific strategy statements in the areas of Research and Innovation, Education, and Inclusion. Committees and councils from the college will be harmonizing the strategy statements and seeking another round of input from the units.

Here is a summary of our next steps to complete our college strategic plan this spring.

Vision (who we want to become)

CEAS committees and councils will finalize vision and becoming statements from the community feedback that we have received.

Strategy Statements (how we will get there)

CEAS committees and councils will start the process of harmonizing the strategy statements received from the units through the beginning of April.
The Engineering Advisory Council (EAC) will review the draft strategic plan on April 14 in conjunction with the spring EAC meeting.
Opportunities to provide feedback on the strategy statements will be provided to all CEAS community members through the strategic planning web page and through our various committees and councils at the end of April/beginning of May.
We plan to have a fully reviewed strategic plan at the end of this spring semester.

As the college-wide strategic planning process works to completion, units will continue to draft their unit-specific strategic plans. The college will continue to support the units and help to ensure that our processes strategic plans align. If you have any questions regarding the unit-specific strategic planning process, please contact your unit's Admin Council representative.

As we move through the process of finalizing the college-wide strategic plan, we will continue to seek the support and engagement of the CU Engineering community. If you have any questions or would like to provide additional feedback, please use the strategic planning feedback forms.

As the college continues to develop its strategic plan with the participation of staff, faculty and students, we are excited about the progress that we have made and the participation that we have had from our community members. Currently, all units and individuals have been asked to evaluate and provide feedback on the vision and becoming statements, and to develop strategy statements at the unit level that will in turn influence the college-wide strategic plan.

Vision statements (who we want to become)

We are continuing to invite feedback on the vision and becoming statements that were developed through the six fall 2022 workshops and the input provided through the strategic planning feedback form. We will continue to iterate on the vision and becoming statements as we receive feedback. Please provide all feedback on these by March 17 through your Admin Council representative or the strategic planning feedback form.

Strategy statements (how we will get there)

To articulate how we will achieve our vision, all units are being asked to develop up to five unit-specific strategy statements, focused on the following three strategic areas, by March 17.

Research and Innovation
Education
Inclusion

The unit-specific strategy statements will be the basis for the college-wide strategic plan. If you have questions regarding the development of the strategy statements within your unit, please consult with your unit's Admin Council representative to understand the process that your unit is taking to develop the unit-specific strategy statements.

Please be reminded that we are seeking continuous engagement and feedback that is inclusive of all College of Engineering & Applied Science community members.

Thank you to everyone who attended the strategic planning workshops over the past several months. We received so much valuable input and feedback, and we’re grateful to have faculty and staff who are so passionate about the future of the college.

If you weren’t able to attend the workshops, the online feedback form will be available through Dec. 16. After that, we will close the form so that Dean Keith Molenaar can work with leadership on synthesizing all of the valuable input and perspectives that were shared.

On Friday, Jan. 13, at 10:30 a.m., we will reconvene to report on our progress and to discuss next steps for departments and units. Please plan to join us. It is important that all faculty and staff have a chance to contribute to the actions we will undertake to chart our collective path forward.

Please save the date for a session at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, during which Dean Keith Molenaar will report on "becoming statement" progress and outline next steps for units.
