This space was previously occupied by the Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, which moved to their East Campus building in 2019.
This new space – filled with the welcoming light that has become a signature for Engineering Center renovations – will offer a variety of collaboration spaces and opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction.

Home to the Engineering Success Hub

Opening in late September, the Engineering Success Hub will be a one-stop shop that will provide highly visible and flexible space for all engineering students. At the Hub, students will be able to find professional staff, advisors, and mentors ready to help with their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Services will include:

Career Services

Academic advising and coaching

Scholarships and college affordability

CAPS embedded counselors

ProReady, including undergraduate research and study abroad opportunities

Peer advice from Engineering Ambassadors and other students

Prospective student recruitment

Office workspace and new labs

CU Engineering’s mission is to generate new knowledge and accelerate research impacts in materials, robotics, avalanche and fluid dynamics, control & dynamical systems, photonics, biomedical, computer science and quantum engineering science and technology. Additional office workspace for faculty, staff, and graduate students were added, in a variety of collaboration settings, to foster learning and interdisciplinary work.

New laboratory spaces include:

A next-generation quantum engineering lab and research space to support the CUbit Quantum Initiative (“Q-bit”) – an interdisciplinary approach to research in quantum engineering information science and technology

A mechanical engineering research laboratory with a two-story avalanche research bay.

A new electrical engineering laboratory for research in control & dynamical systems and photonics.

Two computational labs for computer science.

The new biomedical engineering research laboratory will also have program offices for their BS, MS, and PhD’s in biomedical engineering.

New conference rooms

Five new conference rooms in the north wing will soon be available for faculty, staff, and students to utilize. Four conference rooms – ECNW 148, ECNW 152, ECNT 112, and ECNT 114 – are on the first floor and fit a capacity between 8 and 14. The largest conference room, ECNT 312, with a capacity of 36, is located on the third floor.

“We have a very high demand for these conference room sizes by all our units for college seminars, departmental meetings, and more,” said Cherie Summers, assistant dean for administration.

Financial support for the project came from campus cash funds and CU Engineering’s reserves and donor gifts. The project is supportive of the four cornerstones of the CU Board of Regents Strategic Framework: Technological Innovation, Promoting Healthier Communities, Fostering Collaboration, and Student Experience & Faculty Excellence.

Watch the Weekly Digest for more information on official opening activities in the Engineering Center North Wing.

This new space – filled with the welcoming light that has become a signature for Engineering Center renovations – will offer a variety of collaboration spaces and opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction.

Off

Traditional

0

On

White
Thu, 25 Aug 2022 06:00:00 +0000 Anonymous 1848 at /engineering-facultystaff
