Devon is a PhD candidate in the School of Education with combined specializations in Equity, Bilingualism & Biliteracy and Teacher Learning, Research & Practice. Formerly a Spanish/English bilingual classroom teacher in New York City, Devon鈥檚 work is animated by deep commitments to transforming the educational experiences of multilingual children in US schools. Broadly speaking, his program of research centers the critical preparation of teachers of multilingual learners. More specifically, his scholarship explores how teacher education might more intentionally prepare teachers to take up agentive roles in relation to language policy and teaching in pursuit of more just educational futures for multilingual children.

At the 麻豆影院, Devon has served in a variety of teacher education roles. He has coached undergraduate teacher candidates in Elementary field placements and is a course instructor in the Elementary teacher licensure program. With Dr. Mileidis Gort, Devon has helped facilitate a multi-year, research-practice partnership around bilingual writing instruction in Denver Public Schools. He is also a doctoral researcher with A Queer Endeavor, a nationally recognized center for gender and sexual diversity in education that works to foster humanizing learning environments for LGBTQ+ students, families, and educators. Devon鈥檚 teacher education work in Colorado builds on his experiences as an Adjunct Lecturer with The City College of New York where, since 2018, he has taught a number of both online and in-person graduate-level courses in TESOL and Bilingual Education.
