Hayley Vatch, a Master's degreeÌýstudent in the Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice program, teaches Sociology at in Denver. This fall, Vatch and her students haveÌýengaged in a deep examination of the historical and sociological roots of race and racism, as well as the current state of racism in our society. The class has visited the exhibit at the History Colorado Center, learned about how race is a socialÌýconstructÌýand how racism is institutionalized, and discussed the recent grand jury decision in Ferguson.
