Professor Juliet Gopinath has been named a fellow of Optica for her pioneering contributions in optics and nanophotonics.

Thanks to the generosity of 21 donors, we raised more than $2,000 for the department’s Excellence Fund throughout November, leading up to Giving Tuesday on Nov. 30. 

Assistant professor will use the grant to develop more efficient and resilient feedback control algorithms for systems operating in dynamic and uncertain environments.

Music and science have interlocking qualities that are difficult to see, which means mathematicians, scientists and engineers are often also talented musicians. Dafna Margalit, a senior at CU Â鶹ӰԺ, is one of those multi-talented people.

Assistant Professor András Gyenis is working to build artificial atoms, allowing quantum computing processes to operate with less errors and perform longer.

Diddams joined CU Engineering as a visiting professor this fall and will become a full professor in 2022. He will also serve in a leadership role in the newly formed Quantum Engineering Initiative.

Omkar Supekar, a postdoctoral associate in Professor Juliet Gopinath’s Optics and Photonics Research Group, has been recognized with an Outstanding Postdoc Award by the CU Â鶹ӰԺ Research and Innovation Office. 

Includes four researchers in quantum engineering, power electronics and data science, as well as a new instructor for the CU-CMU partnership program.

Electrical engineering researchers at CU Â鶹ӰԺ have designed one of the most precise stopwatches yet — one that can count single photons. The group published its results this week in the journal Optica.
