Every image that you upload is automatically recreated and resized to several different formats. Once it is uploaded, you can insert the image at one or all of the sizes. Below are all the sizing options:

Colorbox Styles

The Colorbox styles have a special functionality: when the Colorbox image is clicked, your page is overlayed with a lightbox containing a larger version of your image. The alternative text that you enter when you upload your image is used as the lightbox caption.

Colorbox small: the largest side of your photo is sized to 300 pixels; lightbox added.

If you choose Automatic image, you'll be inserting the image at the size you uploaded. This is a bad idea if your image is extremely large. This is a good idea if you've used a photo-editing program to prepare the image to the exact size that you want.

Hero

A Hero-style image is inserted at 1500 pixels wide. Use this style for images placed in the Intro Wide or Post Wide regions. These regions stretch across the width of the browser window.

Large

A Large image spans the entire width of the web page. If you have a sidebar on the page, the image will be auto-sized down to fit the content area next to the sidebar.

Large Square Thumbnail

The system will crop your image to a square of 600 x 600 pixels. You'll see a tiny crosshair on the uploaded image -- use it to tell the system where the most important part of the image is. It will crop around that spot.

Medium

The largest side of your image is sized to 600 pixels. The short side of your image is scaled proportionately. This means, if your picture is in landscape mode, the horizontal sides will be 600 pixels, as in this example. If your image is in portrait mode, the vertical sides will be 600 pixels and the horizontal sides will be much smaller, to keep the right proportions.

Slider

A slider image is long and thin. This size is used for banners placed at the top of the page. When you're choosing an image for a banner, make sure it is an image that will look good when the top and bottom of the image are cropped off. You'll see a tiny crosshair on your uploaded image -- use it to tell the system where the most important part of the image is. It will crop around that spot.

Small

The largest side of your image is sized to 300 pixels. The short side of your image is scaled proportionately. This mean, if your image is in landscape mode, the top side will be 300 pixels, like this example. If your image is in portrait mode, the top side will be smaller than 300 pixels to stay proportional to the tall side.
