Eric Rubin

Ambassador (ret.) Eric Rubin retired from the U.S. Foreign Service in 2023 after a 38-year career that saw him reach the highest levels of the State Department.Ìý Eric served as U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria, Deputy Chief of Mission in Moscow, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Consul General in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and in a series of important Washington assignments that included two years on President Clinton's staff at the White House.Ìý Ìý

Eric was a Dean and Virginia Rusk Fellow at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, where he taught for three years, and completed his Foreign Service career serving as the elected president of the American Foreign Service Association, the union and professional association of the U.S. Foreign Service, 2019-2023.

Eric serves on the board of YIVO, the Institute for Jewish Research in New York City, and is a senior fellow at the RAND Corporation and the Center for European Policy Analysis.ÌýHe is an active member of the American Academy of Diplomacy, the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs, and DACOR.Ìý He also serves as a visiting fellow at the Joint Forces Staff College of the National Defense University in Norfolk, VA.Ìý ÌýEric is a 1983 graduate of Yale University.
